The Philae temple is on an island and the only way to reach it is by boat. This forms a pleasant trip from a small jetty where motorised boats will take individuals and groups to the island. The times we have been to the island during the day, the owners will bring Nubian art jewelry around the passengers for sale. Some of this is very beautiful especially the hematite. It is also quite cheap and well worth the money.
