Hylton Castle Grounds

Hylton Castle lies on the North Hylton Road in Sunderland at the edge of a housing estate. It is often described as a fortified manor house and when touring the grounds it's possible to see where masonary has been removed from both sides of the building suggesting it had additional wings.

To the left behind the trees is a family chapel, although it has no roof it is well worth a visit.

Neither building has a roof and the inside of the castle is no longer open to the public, but it is still worth visiting.

I think the light on this particular winter morning with the light dusting of snow makes it look almost like a painting.
